Mr. Pat Blaauw started his welding training in Jeppe (Johannesburg) 38 years ago. He went on to work on the following power station: Kriel Power Station, Duvha Power Station, Koeberg Power Station and then to Sasol 2 and 3 Refineries. He also worked at Sasol 1 and in refineries in Durban (Mobil & Shell) pulp and paper and Sappi Salccol. He worked as a Coded Welder welding different codes and working as a foreman and in supervisory positions.
He started as a Welding instructor in Port Elizabeth (ETC Training Centre), went on as a Welding instructor in Outshoorn. He started the welding training centre in Mosselbay, he started off at the opening of the training centre (PETRO S.A) today. He came back to Port Elizabeth to start work as a Supervisor for BMBC (Building of a platform on P.E. Harbour).
He went further on to Mosgass on shore and started as Welding Supervisor. Mr. Blaauw were offered a position at Welfit Oddy in Port Elizabeth as Welding Technician and Welding Instructor on a contractual basis, his main purpose was to do trouble shooting and fault finding on the welding production lines and also did upgrading and training of welders.
He started his own business 14 years ago in the manufacturing, food and beverage, and pharma catalytic industries. Mr. Blaauw is qualified as a trade testted welder and assessor before starting his own training centre 10 years ago. From there he started growing the training centre in the manufacturing business.
His main aim is to develop the youth, previously disadvantage individuals into welding artisans in lieu of creating more job opportunities and broaden the skill of welders in our country.
